Hello, my name is Jennifer Simonson. I am the HBRMS front office secretary. My husband and I moved back to Big Rock with our two sons in September of 2019. I grew up in Big Rock and went to school at HBR. I am the daughter of the previous secretary who retired last May. My mom Sue Blume worked for HBR for over 20 years. I am very close to my mom; she still lives in Big Rock, and I talk with her daily. Family is very important and dear to me. I love working here at the school and interacting with the students and staff as they give the feeling of a close-knit family. Some of the staff members were even my teachers!
The sense of community, overwhelmingly friendly and welcoming presence that HBR provides is amazing. My mom always said that she loved working at HBR, she struggled with retirement. I was ultimately happy she did decide to retire as it provided me the opportunity to take over her position and experience the same amazing culture that she loves!
It has been an interesting and fun adventure transitioning to her position. I had a lot of cleaning of cabinets and drawers. When one is in a position as long as she was, it was like cleaning out a house! Which is awesome in the respect that HBRMS can feel like a second home. Working at the HBRMS is wonderful and fulfilling for me. The conversations I get to have on a daily basis with many of the students are awesome, they all have their own personalities and teach me something new all the time.
