This time of year, many things are happening around Hinckley-Big Rock CUSD #429. While most of the visible events are focused on finishing the school year strong and celebrating the accomplishments of our students and staff, we are also planning for extended learning opportunities this summer, working on goals for the 2022-2023 school year, and going through the hiring process to fill vacancies. It is the latter that I want to focus on and provide some additional insight.
Whether I am directly involved in the interview process or not, I meet with all final candidates to get to know them as an individual, better understand them as future Royals, share a bit about our district focus and goals, and brag about our district. I make sure and share some of the great things that we are doing and acknowledge some of the areas we need to improve.
During my meetings with final candidates this year, I have also shared our recent work on what it means to be a Royal Staff Member using this infographic.
This helps set the stage for what we expect in each staff member and it gives me a chance to discuss the excellence our staff strives for. When we don't meet the mark, we must not only ask ourself if we are being Royal, we must also ask ourselves how we can strive to be a better Royal. This is an important conversation and a time that also prompts me to reflect on how my actions and attitude exhibit being Royal.
While this time of year is extremely busy, and even more so for me personally with two seniors getting ready to cross the graduation stage in exactly one month from today, it is also an exhilarating time while we reflect on this school year and plan for the next one. Hinckley-Big Rock CUSD #429 in many ways runs a daily catering business, a transportation service, and has the very weighty and important responsibility of educating the school-aged children of our community. While this can be daunting at times, the trust that each of our parents and community members gives us each and every day is humbling. We are blessed to be able to serve our community and strive for excellence in all we do.
While I know that this next month will fly by, I am looking forward to the memories that are being created and the foundation that is being built for future Royals. Let's finish strong Royals!
