¡Estamos celebrando!
Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from October 15th to November 15th, is a nationwide event, and we are celebrating it at HBR.
¡Estamos leyendo!
At our Elementary School, Mrs. Martinez has been sharing the Spanish language with our students through our daily announcements. It has been fun to wish students a “Happy Birthday” and “Feliz Cumpleaños.” She has read books in Spanish (libros en espanol) to each class, introducing Spanish vocabulary and emphasizing the significance of the language.
¡Estamos aprendiendo! Mrs. Clark has led discussion circles for our 5th and 6th graders, fostering a deeper understanding of the Spanish language and culture. These discussions have centered on the importance of honoring all languages and the profound impact of Hispanic culture on our society. Language unifies families. It needs to be celebrated and respected.
¡Estamos compartiendo!
At the High School, we joined in the celebration at the Taste of HBR, featuring freshly fried Churros and Churro cheesecakes topped with strawberries. Our students worked on authenticity to serve true Hispanic cuisine. Yes, Mrs. Clark may have briefly overloaded the circuits, but the power eventually came back on!
To show our students the vibrancy of Hispanic culture, we have displays at each school to honor the contributions of notable individuals from Hispanic communities who have enriched our lives. These displays are continuing to grow and change as we lead up to dia de los muertos.
This all reflects our commitment to #honorourlanguages.
¡Estamos honrando los idiomas!
