The 1st week of the 2020-21 school year at HBRES is in the books! What an amazing week!! The students did an awesome job!! They filled this principal’s bucket and kept me smiling all week. 😊 Parents, I want to say a big THANK YOU for your support and partnership. It was evident to me that you have all talked with your children and have explained the importance of working the safety plan and wearing their mask so that we can be together in school. I truly appreciate all your assistance!!! ~Mrs. Melnyk #Proud2bARoyal
Welcome Back! We are so super excited to welcome our students! It really is a good day to be a Royal!
This video demonstrates start of the day (8:15 a.m. & 12:15 p.m.) drop off procedures for students who are being driven by families in cars. Please watch carefully so that you know how to have your student ready for school healthy and safe. We will do our best to get everyone in to school as quickly and as safely as possible. For the end of session pick up (11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.), all cars will go to Circle Drive. Please be patient with us as none of this (or you!) have done this- we’re all learning together. We’ve got this! See you tomorrow!https://drive.google.com/file/d/1j4EzBcstGoiGmB3c9AptE4hiurZAvSY6/view?usp=sharing

Dear Parents,
I am reaching out to you to first welcome you to the 2020-21 school year and give you some updates to our classes and AM/PM schedules. I also want to thank those of you who filled out the Enrollment Survey(s) from the district office. The information you have provided has been instrumental in the preparations for the upcoming school year at the elementary school. In addition, our staff has worked diligently to ensure that families with children who attend multiple buildings in the district are enrolled in the same session. We are so excited to work with our students again and have been busy making the final preparations.
For your own home preparations, here is some additional information on the options this year:
• AM session (8:30-11:00 a.m.) – There were many AM session requests turned in on the survey, and I have accommodated those to the best extent possible. If I was not able to make your AM session request, you would have received a phone call from my office. If you have not spoken directly with me, your AM session request is what is listed for your child.
• PM session (12:30-3:00 p.m.) – If you requested PM session or were flexible to make either session work, your child will attend in-person during the PM session. (Again, unless I have spoken directly with you.)
• Royal Remote Learning – If you have chosen for your child to be a full-time Royal Remote Learner, you will receive more information about your child’s teacher, cohort session, and details about how the learning sessions will work.
• Did not complete a survey – Due to the multiple AM session requests, if you did not complete a survey, your child has been placed in the PM session.
Next steps: I am meeting with the teaching staff to finalize and share class lists. We recognize that during a normal year, this information has been sent to you by this time. We are anxious to get the class and teacher information to you as quick as possible. In order for us to mail that information to you, you have to register for the upcoming school year through Skyward, our student information system. You can visit http://hinckleybigrockcusd429il.apptegy.us/o/hbr-429/page/registration-information--86 for more information on how to enroll for the 2020-21 school year. If you have any questions or need any assistance with the registration process, please contact my office at 815-286-3402.
Again, I want to say how excited I am to work with you and your children. I know this year will be different, but it will be one of great learning, growth, and fun!
Have a safe rest of your summer!
Respectfully,
Julie Melnyk, Principal
