Welcome to the first of 36 weekly posts of Every Royals Voice during the 2022-2023 school year. The purpose of this weekly blog is to provide different perspective of the happenings at Hinckley-Big Rock CUSD #429. During the remaining 35 posts this school year, you will hear from 15 students, 7 parents, 12 staff members, and 1 Board member. Since the first blog post on September 19, 2014, this is the 270th blog post, with a total of 167,197 views to date. Make sure to check in weekly for our blog posts and learn about what is going on in our District from multiple perspectives.
There are so many things going on in our District that is was hard to really decipher what I wanted to provide insight on for this blog post. I thought about highlighting the work of our staff in preparation for this year, our new certified staff orientation on August 4th and 5th, the Hinckley-Business Association's annual Ice Cream Social and the great turnout by our community, our whole staff institute days on August 11th and 12th, and our new staff this year (If you check out September's issue of the Hinckley Update, you'll get additional information on our new staff). I landed on our District's theme for the 2022-2023 school year, #BackToBetter, which has been woven into many of the above considered topics.
We have certainly all learned a lot these past few school years. Taking those lessons learned, we are striving to get #BackToBetter in all that we do. Through all of our lessons learned, there are practices/events which we no longer see value in doing. There are also practices/events that we see value in doing and want to improve on. Finally, there are new practices/events that we want to try. Our desire as Royal Staff Members is to continually strive for excellence. We are committed to strive for excellence in all we do and get #BackToBetter in the process. This work is a culmination of many goals that we have had as a District. To name a few, getting #BackToBetter is the continuation of improvement in our students' career readiness (2013-2016 goal), implementation of technology (2016-2019 goal), integration of personalized learning (2017-2020 goal), the addition of K-12 course offerings as well as co-curricular and extra-curricular events (2020-2022 goal), and the professional learning of our entire staff (2019-2020 goal). We are excited that those of you that entrust us with your students day in and day out, as well as those living in our community, will be our partners as we do this important work of striving to provide the highest quality personnel, practices, services and support to maximize student academic achievement, student achievement and personal enrichment in activities, and student growth as persons of character.
As we end the first week of school, I want to thank everyone for their efforts this week to get #BackToBetter. The planning, flexibility, and patience exhibited is truly appreciated. It has been a great week, one of many more to come. Make sure and check out next week's blog to gain a student's perspective on the happenings at Hinckley-Big Rock Elementary School.
